The Minnesota Mr. Hockey Award is awarded to the most outstanding HS hockey player in the state. This year it was very close; a lot of people think Alex Bump Alex Bump 6'0" | Forward Prior Lake | 2022 State MN got snubbed. Bump has the NHL Draft future and the stats to make him Mr. Hockey. But, the deserving winner was Max Strand Max Strand 5'9" | Forward Roseau | 2022 State MN : and he got it. In this article, we are honoring Max Strand Max Strand 5'9" | Forward Roseau | 2022 State MN from Roseau and highlighting his amazing HS career and Mr. Hockey’s award to cap it off.

Strand came on the scene very fast in his sophomore season where he scored 20 goals and notched 24 assists for 44 total points. He then saw his per-game averages increase in his junior season when he had 39 points in 21 games. His senior season he absolutely exploded with points, as he went for 78 points in 27 games. Strand is a very balanced player, as in his Mr. Hockey year he had 36 goals and 42 assists. Strand has been a leader on a very solid Rams squad over his career. His huge jump in points and overall career won him the most Mr. Hockey votes.

Strand played in three HS elite leagues: which puts him in a very rare category. One before his sophomore year, one before his junior year, and lastly before his senior. Strand is also not committed to a college yet and is currently playing the NAHL with the Norsemen. It shouldn’t be too hard for Mr. Hockey to impress in the NAHL, as he is off to a fast start with 10 points in just 7 games.

Strand is very deserving of this award, as many people think Bump got snubbed. It was really cool to see the committee vote kind of a surprise pick and shock the state a bit. Good luck to Strand in the future, and congrats!
