In this article, I am going to focus on 3 players who are having breakout sophomore seasons. Let’s get started!
Harper Searles | Forward | Centennial | Prep Hockey #6 ’24’s
Harper Searles is in his second season on the Centennial High School Team and has made some noise in his sophomore year. Searles is 3rd in points on his team, tallying 17 goals and 21 assists so far. Harper also had a nice fall with 12 points in 19 games with TDS Transportation of the Elite League. He is apart of a Cougar team that is very potent when it comes to offense and scoring and they have a great chance at coming out of Section 5AA this season. Searles is a young player yet and has a bright future in the next 2 seasons and post high school.
Murray Marvin-Cordes | Forward | Warroad | Prep Hockey #8 ’24’s
Murray Marvin-Cordes is yet another player from Warroad with the last name Marvin who is turning out to be a nice hockey player out of that Northern Minnesota pipeline. So far this season, Marvin-Cordes has tallied 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points. During offseason hockey in the spring and fall, Murray has shined for the Minnesota Blue Ox Tier 1 teams the last couple seasons. On this years Warriors team, Marvin is another ingredient on this amazingly deep and explosive team. They will have a great shot at capturing their first state title since 2005 for Class A if they keep playing like they have this season.
Javon Moore Javon Moore 6'2" | Forward Minnetonka | 2024 State MN | Forward | Benilde-St. Margaret’s | Prep Hockey #13 ’24’s
Our final featured breakout player in this edition is Javon Moore Javon Moore 6'2" | Forward Minnetonka | 2024 State MN of the Red Knights. Along with fellow sophomore Stewart, McMorrow is another young player making an immediate and huge impact on this Benilde team. Brendan has 21 points on the season and contributes even if he isn’t lighting up the scoresheet. McMorrow is formerly from Lakeville North and has also played for several AAA teams out of the state before joining the Red Knights this season. This team is a dangerously good and will have a good chance at a title if they can get past a very tough Section 6AA. Brendan will be a fun player to watch for years to come and has a bright future after high school.
