Every game starts to matter even more as teams look to make a run at the right time of the year and make state. Prep Hockey follows along with a lot of high school games, but we are a player-driven site. We cover any player on any team and today we are taking a look at a couple of forwards that jumped up the most in our rankings from last year to this year.
#1. Ryan Koering Ryan Koering 6'0" | Defense Eden Prairie | 2023 State MN | Moorhead | 6’0 Forward | #20 Overall ’22
Ryan Koering Ryan Koering 6'0" | Defense Eden Prairie | 2023 State MN is our biggest stock riser, as last year we had him at #50 overall. From last April to this January, he has done enough to rise up our rankings by 30 spots. Why? 1. The offseason he had at the high school elite league was phenomenal. Finished with 31 points in 19 total games with 12 goals and 19 assists. 2. He then followed that performance up with this even better high school season he is having right now. He is currently at 22 goals and 18 assists for 40 points in just 18 games. He is averaging over 2.0 points per game, currently. 3. He is a fringe D1 player, heading into his senior season (after this season ends). College coaches definitely have their eyes on him and he is one of the best uncommitted junior players in our class and he deserved this rise.
#2. Robbie Clarkowski Robbie Clarkowski 5'11" | Goalie Edina | 2023 State MN | Lakeville South | 5’11 Forward | #28 Overall ’22
Willis was even more underrated than Bentz, as we had him as our number 57 player when we put out the rankings after last season. Willis had a very good sophomore season last year with 22 games played, 4 goals, and 20 assists for 24 points. He then went to the high school elite league this fall and scored more than he did in his first high school season. In the elite league, Willis had a solid 8 goals and 8 assists for 16 points in 20 games. Now, this season for his junior year, Willis is absolutely breaking out as he is close to matching how many points he had last year, but in way fewer games. Willis made the big jump in our rankings this year mainly because of the huge jump in production. He is averaging a very impressive 1.5 points per game. With one month left of the season, Willis has 8 goals and 13 assists in just 14 games played. Very productive season.
#3. Cooper Conway Cooper Conway 6'0" | Forward Andover | 2023 State MN | Little Falls | 6’2 Forward | #18 Overall ’22
While Fillipi isn’t the highest stock rising player in our rankings, he is the highest overall ranked player in this article. Last year we had Matt at number 39 overall and bumped him up all the way to #18 overall. The number one reason for this bump is the junior year point explosion that he is having. Fillipi currently is 3rd in the state with 55 total points in 16 games played. That is an astonishing 3.43 points per game! Fillipi also has 29 goals (4th in the state) and 26 assists (9th in the state). The Little Falls Flyers are having a dream season currently and have their eyes set on the state tournament. One of the main reasons for their success this season is the year Fillipi is having. What a season for him and he can finish this year with over 70 points for sure. Fillipi’s stock has never been higher.
